- Having completed his MBBS and MD in Medicine from Sarojini Naidu Medical College, Agra, Dr. Kumar further pursued DM in Medical Oncology from the renowned Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai. His desire for knowledge didn't stop there as he acquired a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the esteemed Royal Postgraduate Medical School of the Hammersmith Hospital in London. Dr. Kumar was also honored with a Fulbright Scholarship in the United States of America.
- Before joining Artemis Hospitals, Dr. Kumar held the prestigious position of Professor and Head in the Department of Medical Oncology at AIIMS, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. His areas of expertise include Blood Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Transplantation, Haematological Malignancies (including Multiple Myeloma and Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia), and Gynecological Malignancies. He has made significant strides in developing cost-effective treatment protocols for sustained bone marrow and stem cell transplantations, highlighting his dedication towards making healthcare accessible for all.
- Dr. Kumar's groundbreaking work in the medical field has been acknowledged with several esteemed awards. He is a recipient of the Padma Shri Award (2014) and the Dr. B.C. Roy Award (2008), the highest award given by the Indian government in the medical category. He also received the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Award, the Ranbaxy Science Foundation Award, and fellowships from the Indian Academy of Sciences (FASc), National Academy of Medical Sciences of India (FAMS), and the National Academy of Sciences (FNASI).
